Character Information
*Character Name: Veser Amaker Hatch
*Character Canon: Hanna is Not a Boy's Name
*Age: 19
*Race: Human/Selkie hybrid
*Timeline/Pull Point: His last appearance in the comic as of 1/28/2011; he has just run out of the apartment of Conrad, the vampire he's staying with, in a fit of rage after being told of a possible link between his best friend's murder and a man named Ples Tibenoch.

*History: Before getting into Veser's personal history, digging a little further back is necessary. Veser's father fell in love with a Selkie woman and stole her pelt, binding her to human form and forcing her to marry him. She didn't like this in the slightest, and developed a deep and dark hatred for her new husband. Things were only made worse when Veser was born, since she was now both chained by marriage and a child.
From a young age, Veser's life hasn't exactly been picture perfect. Veser's father was extremely abusive and, as Veser grew older, took to using his son as a punching bag. Coupled with his mother's emotional detachment and detest of both her husband and her son, it's safe to say that Veser didn't have the best relationship with his parents, or adults in general. he quickly learned to make excuses for his injuries, and so no one ever suspected what was really happening behind closed doors. Veser would have probably turned out to be a horrible mess of a person if it hadn't been for his father's best friend, Lee.
Lee was the only positive, long-term adult influence in Veser's life, and also Veser's closest friend and parental figure. Unfortunately, Lee was also completely blind to the troubles that plagued the Hatch family, preferring to stow away any unpleasant scenarios in place of a more comfortable half-truth. Combined with the fact that he was in love with Veser's mother, he was completely oblivious to Veser's issues.
Eventually, Veser graduated from high school and got the hell out of dodge, moving into college dorms as soon as he could. One day after this, he finally told Lee the truth about his parents and how his mother had been forced into marriage, and off-handedly mentioned that he was lucky she didn't drown him in the bathtub out of spite. Finally, Veser asked Lee to help him get her pelt away from his father, to which Lee agreed.
A week passed, and Veser didn't hear from Lee about anything regarding the pelt. Worried, he went to look for him and ended up in the upper levels of a theater where he ran into a paranormal investigator named Hanna and his nameless zombie partner, {...} (who punched Veser in the stomach after the teen had run out of the darkness at them, screaming all the way). After a short conversation with them, he was suddenly tripped by a ghost that Veser seemed to recognize. He followed the ghost up to a higher level... only to discover Lee's body hanging from a noose.
After Hanna left to go check on two others he had left downstairs in his investigation, the ghost -- who was revealed to be Lee's -- possessed {...}. Veser tried to coax Lee's ghost from {...}'s body, only for it to become angry and demand to know why Veser didn't tell him about his father's abusiveness as he, ironically, attacked Veser with a pipe. Veser could only dodge as he tried to explain that he couldn't tell Lee, not while he had been his father's best friend for years.
Hanna soon reappeared and exorcised Lee's ghost from {...}, who turned to Veser and explained that Lee hadn't committed suicide, like the scene has suggested -- he'd been murdered. This was enough to make Veser break down into tears. He brushed it off and told Hanna and {...} that he needed their help finding both the pelt and the one who murdered Lee (although he didn't specifically name either of these, instead saying "something... and someone").
After an encounter with a duo of vampires, Veser gave the police details on his father, who was the prime suspect, and went to live with Conrad Achenleck, a vampire who had been a past client of Hanna's. When the investigator came back to ask Veser if he'd ever heard of a man named "Ples Tibenoch", who was suspected to have something to do with Lee's death, Veser immediately flew into a rage yet again, blaming himself for Lee's death and running out the door, determined to get answers himself.

*Personality:
The first thing Veser lets on about his personality is that he's very immature for his age. Veser is very flirtatious, and will hit on just about anyone that passes him by, although his focus is predominately on women. He has about the same grace as a newborn deer walking on ice when it comes to conversation, often spouting inappropriate jokes and topics. Whether or not he says these things because he genuinely lacks the social tact or because he just thinks it's funny is up for debate, but some people say it's a terrible combination of both. He's a touch arrogant and stand-offish, proud to admit that he's awesome and daring anyone to prove to him otherwise.
Veser has a mischievous streak about a mile wide, and boundless energy to back it up. To burn off some of the energy, he has hobbies in street hockey, soccer, and video games. Lots and lots of video games. This energy makes him one of the few people who can actually keep up with Hanna, who has a rather 'mile-a-minute' thought process and the energy of a squirrel on cocaine. Unlike Hanna, however, Veser is very much a cynic, finding it hard to put trust in mankind as a whole thanks to his experiences with his parents.
This isn't the only consequence of his parents' legacy. He's very much a slave to his emotions, which are often unstable. And because of his violent upbringing, his go-to action for self-defense when he's in a bad mood is to pick a fight so that he can punch and kick without much consequence. This is especially where his social tactlessness can come through, since he'll usually scream insults as a way of goading someone into fighting him.
This isn't to say that he can't be a nice guy when he wants to be, though; he's definitely annoying, yes, but his heart's usually in the right place. When he's in a good mood, he's actually incredibly friendly, if not a bit touchy-feely. He doesn't seem to have much of a concept of personal space, since he'll often be within arm's length in order to hug or drape over someone or give them a friendly punch in the arm if the situation calls for it.

Writing Samples
*First Person Sample: Okay. So, just so that  I can make sure we're clear here: I just got dragged through some kinda... weird, confusing time-space tear or some other really confusing shit, and I'm now completely stuck on a... a primordial machine-planet named Cybertron? Like, I'm surrounded by giant robots and some other guys that got pulled through? That's what's happening here?

[The boy on the Link pauses for a long moment, his initial expression one of bewilderment -- although the fact he was very upset just a few moments ago is underlying -- before breaking into a giant grin, revealing his rows of gnashing, shark-like teeth.]

That is so fucking cool. Like, legit! This is an honest-to-God or whatever alien planet?! Life dream, consider yourself completed!

[He almost drops his communicator in his excitement, his words tumbling out at a mile a minute. Finally, he remembers he's talking to people and laughs, a little sheepishly.]

Sorry. Got a bit excited there, this is just so awesome. Uh, anyway... [His smile shrinks down to a smirk.] This might be kind of pointless, but I might as well see if there's anyone I already know here -- from my universe or world or whatever. So! First things first, I'm lookin' for two guys. First guy's really pale, black hair, dresses like a hipster douche? His name's Conrad, I think, he's British as all hell.

Second guy's kinda short, red hair, glasses -- looks like a real geek. Some kinda 'paranormal investigator' or whatever. His name's Hanna -- his. Might be seen around with a zombie and yeah, I know that's technically three guys but whatever. You seen them, or if they're here -- call me back, right?

[He goes to turn off the feed... but pauses. His expression completely sobers up, darkening into something very much hurt and a teeny bit malicious.]

Oh... and if anyone knows a guy named 'Tibenoch'... point me to him.

*Third Person Sample: Veser had been sitting in the park, tossing pebbles into the puny little trickle of a stream, for a good ten minutes now, and he was starting to think he might have screwed himself over. He'd left that wimpy artfag vampire's apartment in such a huff that he'd... kind of forgotten where, exactly, it was. It wasn't like he was exactly paying attention to the street name on the car ride there in between remembering what he'd seen just a little while earlier.

He stood up, grabbed the biggest rock he could lift that was near him, and heaved it into the stream with a cry that, despite him, was bordering on turning into a wail of hurt. That was the last thing he wanted to think about. He'd tried to put it out of his mind the minute he'd gotten in the car and the red and blue lights were specks in the distance.

He collapsed back onto the ground, watching as the water backed up behind the pile of pebbles he'd thrown in over the past ten minutes and started overflowing. With a heavy sigh, he brought his knees up and wrapped his arms around them, staring blankly at the water as it struggled over the rocks. When he heard distant voices getting closer, probably to investigate the noise he'd made, he stood once again and jumped to the other bank. Before he left, though, he paused... and reached down to pick up the biggest rock yet again, dropping it with a wet 'thud' into the mud before departing.

He hadn't taken five steps when he blinked and opened his eyes to see the ground rushing up to meet him, followed by a dark, empty nothing.

Final Notes: His teeth are very sharp, and he takes extra care to keep them that way. I'll be setting up a permissions post as to how much damage he can possibly do with them. Also, Veser is a huge Transformers fan, as the franchise exists in his world, and his permissions post will also ask if Veser can actively recognize certain characters (mostly of the G1 cartoon continuity or the Bayverse movies)
